Let Wildflower capture the magic of your celebration. Our small crew will film the memorial while an on-site producer will be available to address all concerns. Wildflower editors will then create a short film based on what was filmed, complete with titles and cinematic transitions. The final film will be shareable via a dedicated private page we host for you.

Our Story

My friend Tim died suddenly. None of us saw it coming—it just happened. I didn’t know how to help his wife, so I leaned on what I know: filmmaking. I offered to document his memorial, giving her a way to share the celebration with friends and family who couldn’t be there.

I didn’t expect to find so much joy at a funeral. Everyone shared stories of love, humor, and community as if to spite our incurable sadness. This wasn’t a film about loss; it was a testament to life, a showcase of how we should all be remembered.

Filming a memorial may seem unconventional, but as a documentary filmmaker, my job is to capture people with warmth and respect. With quiet presence, our crew documents meaningful and magical lives, recording memories that preserve our wonderful friends and families for generations.

Why would anyone want to film a memorial?

A memorial isn’t just a goodbye; it’s a celebration of a lived life. Filming the service allows you to revisit tributes, hear stories that might have been missed in the moment, and preserve the emotions and connections shared that day. For family members unable to attend, it offers a way to participate in the remembrance from afar. Most importantly, it creates a lasting heirloom — something to return to, reflect on, and honor the life and love that brought people together.

Emotions can feel overwhelming in the days and weeks surrounding a loss. But months, even years later, hearing your wonderful person’s name spoken, seeing the faces that gathered in love, and reliving the moments of remembrance becomes an irreplaceable gift many don’t realize they want until time makes the value clear.

How much does it cost to make a video?

We want our work to be accessible to everyone looking to capture special memories. As such, our prices scale based on the scope of the project. Our prices range from $95 for a slideshow video up to $1,450 for our two-hour Celebration Documentary which includes a full crew, editing, titles and a web page dedicated to your loved one. You can add on extra services, like one-on-one testimonials at the ceremony or a highlight reel designed for social media.

We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, and money orders. Projects require a 50% deposit to start, and full payment is required for final cut delivery. Refunds are offered up to the first day of project activity (for example, start of filming or the interview appointment).

How long does the process typically take?

Ideally, we start planning two weeks prior to the ceremony. We then need around two weeks of editing time to complete a “first cut” for your review. Customized projects will, of course, take longer. Everything can be expedited if desired, although a rush fee may be applied.

Can you interview my wonderful person while they’re still with us?

Absolutely. “Living testimonials” are a powerful way to preserve their voice, stories, and wisdom. We approach these interviews with warmth and care, giving them space to reflect on a life well lived. Wildflower offers this through our interview service, ensuring your wonderful person’s memories stay with loved ones for years to come.

What if my wonderful person is a pet?

Many wonderful animals leave lasting marks on our lives — dogs, cats, and cherished companions who become family. At Wildflower, we honor their unconditional love through memorials that celebrate the joy they brought and the moments we shared.

What role will I play in the process?

Your input is integral. We want to create a film that honors your wonderful person, preserving their memory for generations. You’re welcome to participate in the planning, filming, and/or editing of the documentary. We also understand that, at these times, there’s a lot demanding your attention. We will work with you to find the right level of engagement to ensure you’re happy with the film.

What do you mean when you describe your filming as “discrete”?

Great documentaries are about the subject not the filmmaker. Wildflower crews are small, respectful, and quiet. We’re guests at your events and, true to our philosophy, we won’t get in the way of documenting your story. Our cameras are set up to run with minimal oversight, so we typically need only two operators to capture an event. We don’t wander about looking to get that perfectly framed shot. Instead, we use carefully placed (but visible) cameras to capture events as they unfold.

Will there be film equipment everywhere?

No. Our extensive studio is built specifically for documentary filmmaking, which means our productions are designed to work in real-world situations. We use high-resolution cameras sat on tripods, professional audio equipment, and (when necessary) proper studio lighting.

What is your relationship to Off The Clock Productions?

Off The Clock Productions is run by the same team behind Wildflower Video. They craft stories for independent film festivals and community theaters, where authentic voices shine and audiences connect through heartfelt cinema.

Do you use content generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

At Wildflower, technology enhances everything we do. From editing and sound improvement to creating a polished, professional look, we rely on advanced tools to bring families the best possible memorial films. AI is part of this toolbox, helping us refine messaging, communicate clearly, and gain fresh perspectives. But it’s just that — a tool. Every decision is shaped with care, ensuring our work adheres to ethical AI sourcing from licensed or public domain content. Our images are genuine, taken by Wildflower staff or licensed from skilled photographers, and our videos are 100% authentically filmed.

What is your privacy policy?

Memories are very personal, and we take privacy very seriously. Wildflower films can be shared any number of ways based on your preferences. We can host an event page for you, or we can hand off finished files for you to post to your favorite social media sites. We will never sell your memories; only you will have the rights to share your final product. Portfolio samples will only be included on our website with your written permission.
